Krásný příběh, vyprávěný stárnoucím mužem, který hledá smysl ve "zbytku dne", v době, která zbývá v životě naplněném snahou být dokonalým butlerem. Film s A. Hopkinsem a E. Thompsonovu byl výborný, hned jsem sehnal knihu v orig. a teď jsem ji potěšením přečetl česky. Závěr cesty po poválečné Anglii a setkání v Cornwallu jsou nádherným vrcholem knihy.

Po Never let me go byl tohle úplně jiný zážitek než jsem čekala, podobné bylo snad jen to, že byl taky melancholický a velmi anglický. Stárnoucí majordomus bialncue svůj život, zní to nudně, ale nudné to není. :)
